Ash Barty’s semi-final win at the Australian Open 2022 draws in 1.3M metro viewers

The Australian Open 2022 night session won entertainment for the fifth time in a row this week, with the network also celebrating another overall network share win.

The tennis semi-final on Thursday, which saw Australian Ash Barty win against American Madison Keys, brought in an average metro audience of 1.341 million, also winning all three key advertising demos.

Meanwhile, next in non-sport entertainment was Nine’s Hot Seat which saw 694,000 metro viewers tune in, while Ten’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here aired to 498,000 metro viewers. The elimination was viewed by 524,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s Border Security – The Front Line had 413,000 metro viewers, followed by the network’s The Chase Australia which had an average metro audience of 408,000.

The #1 news program on Thursday was Seven News which aired to 1.088 million metro viewers, while Seven News at 6:30 had 1.055 million metro viewers. Nine News had 1.001 million metro viewers.

As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 43.1% over Seven’s 21.4%, while Ten had a 17.1% share, and the ABC took a 11.3% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Thursday was 10 Bold with a share of 3.6%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 10 January, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear, with 1.552 million viewers, including 32,000 on BVOD and an uplift of 2%.

The program with the biggest uplift however was an episode of ABC’s Miriam & Alan: Lost in Scotland with an uplift of 49% and had a total of 510,000 viewers overall, and BVOD audience of 70,000 nationally.
