Audi trials holographic marketing tool
Car brand Audi is experimenting with holographic projections as a new marketing tool.
In an inititative reminscent of R2D2 projecting an image of Princess Leah, Sydney’s Audi Centre has installed the “holographic virtual assistant”, pictured, to tell customers about the range.
Linda Narline, marketing manager for the Audi Centre, told Mumbrella: “I’ve been describing it as a cross between Star Trek and Star Wars.”
The technology, provided by out of home digital firm PDM, features an actress, dressed in Audi corporate colours, talking about the range. Narline said: “It’s something of a first for us as a brand. Obviously it’s a good fit because we want to be seen as innovative. the idea is that when customers walk in it sparks a conversation in the showroom. it will hopefully provide a talking point with our clients.”
Can you press ‘0’ to talk to a human?

If I see one more reference to the “holographic” image of “Princess Leah”, being the basis for future expectations relating to electronic image delivery, I will rescind and cancel all galactic passports between Earth and Gazaal.
Special effects in “Movies” are no basis for anything in the real world, not even Meryl Streep with a reversed head, and a porthole.
Get some imagination Earthlings!!!

Guilty, Pietro! I couldn’t resist it because of the similarity between the pictures though…
