Aussie Broadband and Thinkerbell take a trip to the local in new campaign

Internet provider Aussie Broadband is celebrating its “uniquely local touch” in a campaign that merges technological and pub aesthetics, via Thinkerbell.

The brand’s ‘Your Local, Internet’ campaign is the latest addition to its Actual Aussie Way platform, which was first launched in mid-2023, having been co-developed with Thinkerbell. The collaborators’ latest offering was designed to emphasise Aussie Broadband’s ability to deliver internet that caters to modern Australians.

It makes use of a 45-second film that equates a local pub with the telecommunications company, combining the brand’s green colour and internet activities (such as social media and watching videos) with a bricks and mortar pub — a distinctly Australian setting.

In addition to the 45-second video, the campaign uses three 15-second clips, with one highlighting Aussie Broadband’s backup capabilities; another for streaming; and another for its strategy for bottlenecks.

Using a pub to symbolise Aussie Broadband reflects the company’s values and technological assets, according to Thinkerbell’s executive creative tinker and co-founder Ben Couzens.

“Aussie is a business that has future facing tech and grass root values at its core. They really are like a techy local pub at the end of your street that knows your name, your usual and serves up the finest free flowing internet in the land,” Couzens said in a media release.

“We want to remind people that our network is the best fit for Australians because it’s designed and optimised specifically for them,” Aussie Broadband’s general manager of marketing, Rebecca Rizzo, said in the same release. “We serve up the best internet on the block because that’s who we are.”

‘Your Local, Internet’ isn’t the only collaboration Thinkerbell and Aussie Broadband have done together.

The creative agency’s Melbourne team helped Aussie Broadband deliver its first TVC for Buddy Telco — the organisation’s digital-first telco that it launched in July 2024.

Thinkerbell’s recent work includes campaigns for GWM, Australian Avocados and BCF.

Three weeks ago, it released its first major work for consumer goods giant, Unilever’s Rexona, featuring the legendary American entrepreneur, writer and television personality, Martha Stewart.

Aussie Broadband and Thinkerbell’s latest collaboration will play across OOH, digital, TV, social, and BVOD formats across Australia.
