Austar AFL promo wins The Monkeys Mumbrella’s Ad of the Month
An Austar promo for the AFL has won Mumbrella’s Ad of the Month for November.
Created by agency The Monkeys, the spot called The Slap is to promote Austar as the first broadcaster to show “every match of every round, live, in HD with no ad breaks, siren to siren.”
Oh puh-leeze, can we have a short respite from ‘Monkey Mania’ – even if it’s just over Christmas?
For a wider viewing audience this work is average at best.
For an AFL audience it is embarrassing.
Two of the game’s best players sitting around in their footy gear at a boardroom table looking like dickheads, surrounded by commentators trying to act (and for that matter bad actors trying to act).
Tim, you really don’t understand our great game.
P.S. Hope they pleased the Austar client by squeezing in that bit about HD at the end.
Hi Anonymous,
The ad of the month is decided by reader vote.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Why are anonymous Melbourne people so unkind, (and so bitter)?
This is the kind of advertising the broader viewing audience would love.
The Bonds stuff was just wallpaper.
Three hours x 9 per week (not to mention a small fortune in an HD subscription per month) wasted to watch one sided blow outs in a sports onanism that no one else in the world plays and cares about even less.
I’d like to see that – not.
It’s a great ad.
I love this spot. Bring on the footy season.
@ alberto rosso
yachtsman?
good use of the word onanism though
I thought it was quite funny and t\he slap very memorable..
An ad selling you ‘no ads’.
Can’t wait for the spoof version. Federal cabinet, lets have an election!!!
Normally a Monkeys fan, but in this instance, think the offer is much bigger than the ad.
and people wonder why the general concensus in that there is no creativity in Australia. It’s caus there aint…..except fo that bonds tvc, it’s pretty good
