Australia falls short in cyber as Google wins grand prix

Australia’s 122 entries in the Cyber Lions category at Cannes converted into just one award – a bronze for Droga 5 Sydney for Cascade Brewery.

According to Droga 5’s entry: “To bring the campaign line ‘Brewed by Feel’ to life on the website, we allowed users to get a sense of the brewing process by brewing their own site. We created a simple intuitive navigation that allowed visitors to select the content they wanted to view and watch the site dynamically reorder its content just the way they brewed it.”

Meanwhile, the grand prix winner went to Google Creative Labs for The Wilderness Downtown, a project to demonstrate the power of emerging internet protocol HTML5.

The film – using music by Arcade Fire – integrated a music video with Google Maps and Street View to give images of the viewer’s childhood home.
