Kyrgios defeat helps Australian Open top Big Bash in ratings for first time this year
The third night of the Australian Open helped Seven to an emphatic ratings win on Wednesday, beating Ten’s Big Bash cricket for for the first time since the tennis aired.

Australia’s Nick Kyrgios’ defeat at the hands of Italy’s Andreas Seppi saw an average audience of 742,000 according to OzTAM’s preliminary overnight ratings. It was the most watched non-news program for the evening topping Ten’s Big Bash game between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers which pulled 627,000 for the second innings.
Seven managed an average overall audience share of 22.5% with the help of the tennis and Seven News – its most watched program for the evening – managing 847,000.
Nine finished in second position for the night pulling 15.5%. Nine News was the most watched program for the night seeing 922,000 tune in, ahead of A Current Affair which managed 748,000 and RBT’s 582,000.
Ten’s 14.8% left it in third place with the Big Bash leading the way ahead of Ten Eyewitness News which managed 524,000 and The Project’s 465,000.
