Australia’s Eurovision 2024 entrant announced: ‘We are buzzed with euphoria at our chance to share this music with the world’

Electronic pop duo Electric Fields will be Australia’s big hope in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will held in Sweden this May, and marks the ninth time Australia has taken part in the geographically confused singing competition.

Electric Fields, singer Zaachariaha Fielding and producer Michael Ross, will perform their new single One Milkali (One Blood), which was released this morning. The song features Yankunytjatjara, an Aboriginal language of the Anangu people.

“We are buzzed with euphoria at our chance to share this music with the world,” Electric Fields said of the upcoming competition.

“Our music comes from the deepest place in both of us and Eurovision is the most exciting opportunity to bring together our cultures and share the joy of our global connection.”

Interestingly, this is the first year SBS decided the entrant internally, rather than via the Australia Decides voting special.

“Since hearing their brilliant song 2000 And Whatever, we have always had our eye on Electric Fields for Eurovision,” Paul Clarke, director of SBS production partner Blink TV said.

“Electric Fields will bring something never seen before on the Eurovision stage. They will be deadly in Malmö!”

Eurovision will be held in Malmö, Sweden, with Australia taking part in the first of two semi-finals, on May 7.
