Australia’s Next Top Model finale set for Sydney Opera House

The finale of this season of Australia’s Next Top Model will be broadcast live from the Sydney Opera House, Foxtel has announced.

The announcement of the high profile venue follows the embarrassing mishap during last year’s final where host Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner live on air.

Foxtel and Granada, the production company behind the finale, took full responsibility for the glitch, stating the wrong name was fed to the host. Foxtel’s director of publicity Jamie Campbell had initially suggested on Sky News that the error was Murdoch’s.

Duane Hatherly FOX8 channel manager said: “We are very excited to be taking the finale to the next level. This year, the series has been larger in every way. The Sydney Opera House just seemed like the obvious place to stage FOX8’s biggest live event.”

The Daily Telegraph reports today there will be an “unprecedented” amount of rehearsals for this year’s finale show, now produced by Shine Australia. It is said Murdoch will also be handed the winner’s name in an envelope.
