Nine said the game’s peak national combined metro and regional audience was 1.674m when viewers in Adelaide on secondary channel 9Gem were also included.

Nine won Saturday with a share of 21.7%, well ahead of Seven’s 17.4% and Ten’s dismal 9.8%.

Seven and Nine had entered the final day of the ratings week with a cumulative share of 19% apiece. But the victory gave Nine the edge with a cumulative share from Sunday to Saturday of 19.4%, ahead of Seven’s 18.8%.

The win finally took Nine into double digits for weekly wins. However Seven still has an unassailable lead of 24-10 over Nine with just six weeks left of the official ratings year.

Meanwhile, the second outing for Michael Usher reading the Seven News bulletin in Sydney was less successful than his first, with an audience of 179,000 in the city, well behind Nine News’ 232,000.

However, across the five city metro, Seven News was on top with 798,000 viewers to 760,000 for Nine News.

Ten’s best performing program was movie Jack Reacher which only rated 306,000.

In the breakfast battle, Nine’s Weekend Today saw off Seven’s Weekend Sunrise by 287,000 to 278,000.

Meanwhile, Seven dominated ratings in Perth with a share of 22.4%, thanks to its 49th annual charity fundraising telethon. Ten averaged 11.7% and Nine 9.3%.
