Media monitoring service Streem has conducted a ranking of Australia’s Top Ten most prominent CMOs/marketing leaders, from 1 July 2020 through to 30 June, across print and online coverage.

The retail, food and tourism industry dominated the list, with Coles’ chief marketing officer, Lisa Ronson taking the top spot for visibility, mentioned a total of 294 times.

Ronson said: “I would like to thank Mumbrella for telling the diverse stories of our great industry and I am extremely humbled to be mentioned in a group of such talented CMOs.

“I hope through our coverage we can be positive examples for the up-and-coming marketers in the industry to be creative, brave and positively impact the community”.

Woolworths’ chief marketing officer, Andrew Hicks came in a close second with 217 unique mentions across the board, while Nestlé’s CMO Joyce Tan came in third with 138 mentions, and KFC’s Kristi Woolrych taking fourth spot with an overall of 132 mentions.

Unsurprisingly, Tourism Australia’s chief marketing officer, Susan Coghill also made it into the top ten, with 78 mentions.

“The past 12-to-18 months have been a trying one for both our tourism and marketing industries. But out of crisis can come great opportunities.

“I thought it was important to use the platform that my role at Tourism Australia gives me to keep focus on the recovery of the tourism industry and to be a cheerleader for smart and effective creative marketing,” Coghill said.

Media relations manager at Streem, Jack McLintock,  said: “Retail and food brands dominate the list of most prominent marketing chiefs in Australia.

“The marketing heads at the two major supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths, are particularly high-profile.

“They also stand out due to the high proportion of their mentions that occur in major metropolitan media, whereas some other marketers primarily appear in the trade press,” McLintock added.
