Avengers continues to dominate box office as Unfriended gets a strong start

The Avengers: Age of Ultron has dominated its second weekend at the Box Office, taking more than $7.5m from 751 screens.

The sequel, directed by Joss Whedon, has now earned $28.719m in its first two weeks, after having the third biggest opening weekend of all time in Australia.

Universal’s horror-thriller Unfriended, which was originally called Cybernatural, came second on its first weekend with $1.265m on 185 screens.

Fast and Furious 7 continued its month-long strong run, coming third over the weekend with $1.04m on 286 screens to take total earnings to $41.819m.

The film is nowthe highest-earning movie of the year, as well as the highest-earning member in the Fast and Furious franchise.

Disney’s Cinderella took in $495,399 on 291 screens to take its total to $21.412m, while Eone’s The Age of Adaline took in $419,755 on 181 screens to reach $2,073m.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 came in sixth position, reaching $2.970m by taking $379,589 on 199 screens.

The Longest Ride and Home, both by Fox, earned $362,125 and $284,343 respectively. The Longest Ride’s total earnings are now at $4.423m, and Home’s are $18.397m.

In ninth place was While We’re Young, which took in $201,159 on 53 screens to scrape past the million dollar mark – it’s currently on $1.07m.

Boychoir, featuring Dustin Hoffman, took in $191,891 on 80 screens to reach $505,901.
