Bad Boys For Life nets over $5m for its debut, tops Dolittle and Bombshell
Bad Boys For Life was the champion of the new releases in box office this weekend, taking $5.742m across 369 screens to scoop first place on the ranking.
It topped other newcomers Dolittle, with $3.381m across 294 screens, and Bombshell which took $1.841m across 213 screens.
Bad Boys For Life is a sequel to the 2003 film Bad Boys II and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as detectives reuniting to work an old case. Dolittle is yet another film based on Hugh Lofting’s Doctor Dolittle book series. This time, Robert Downey Jr is in the titular role, but the film looks to be heading for flop status.
Bombshell follows the sexual harassment allegations against Fox News CEO Roger Ailes and stars Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and Charlize Theron.
In second place, for its second week of release, was 1917 which took another $3.561m across 256 screens. Its current running total is $10.421m.
Fourth place in the top ten went to Jumanji: The Next Level which is on its fourth week of release. The film took a further $2.360m across 405 screens for a total of $40.425m in Australia to date. Little Women, also on its fourth week, took $1.421m across 319 screens for a running total of $11.009m.
Seventh place went to The Gentlemen with $1.299m across 272 screens, followed by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which took another $1.067m across 251. It has a current total of $45.109m in Australia.
Spies in Disguise was next with $806,167 across 278 screens, followed by My Spy on $742,046.
