President Trump’s former deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters to present keynote at Mumbrella CommsCon
Lindsay Walters, the former deputy press secretary and special assistant to President Donald Trump, will be the international keynote speaker for Mumbrella CommsCon on April 2 at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney.
Now VP of U.S. public affairs at Edelman, Walters joined Edelman in April last year after spending over two years as the special assistant and deputy press secretary to President Trump.
At Mumbrella CommsCon, she will unpack the goal of PR in politics, how political PR uses news management tactics to cultivate a favourable public image and how to influence public opinion.
She will also lift the lid on the role PR plays in helping consumers understand the muddied world of politics, explaining the political economy, the relationship between PR and political campaign strategies and what she learned during her time in the Trump administration.
During her time at the White House, Walters focused on the Trump administration’s economic policies.
Prior to her stint at the White House, Walters was the national spokesperson at the Republican National Committee for just over a year.
Throughout her time at the Republican National Committee she worked alongside former press secretary Sean Spicer.
She has also served as the deputy press secretary in the State of Illinois.
Walters is the third international speaker to join the lineup at Mumbrella CommsCon, speaking alongside Golin Singapore’s ECD, Shouvik Prasanna Mukherjee and the director of communications at the Guardian, Brendan O’Grady.
Also set to speak at Mumbrella CommsCon is Candice Woods, national communications manager, United Nations Association of Australia; Georgia Wright, director of PR, CHE Proximity; Matt Springate, CSO, TBWA; Sarah Trombetta, CEO, Red Havas, Annabel Archer, social media lead, Coca-Cola South Pacific and more.
Mumbrella CommsCon will be held on April 2 at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
