The case for Photoshop
Over-Photoshopping ads is looked on dimly by the industry.
However, the state of the toes on this foot which is plastered on the side of a tram in Melbourne may provide a compelling reason for occasionally dabbling in the odd touch up.
Located fortuitously at window height the ruddy talons have been greeting any driver lucky enough to pull up next to them as they plough up and down St Kilda Road.
The feet belong to the lady doing yoga on the Bank of Melbourne ‘Moving Melbourne’s Makers’ wrap in this picture.
Dr Mumbo is all for the natural look, but toes push things a little too far.
Oh man, didn’t realise how bad that looked until I zoomed in

I totally disagree toes are toes and just because you can tidy up real life with a bit of photoshop action doesn’t mean you should.

This is a joke right?
Are you serious?
Is is really to the point now TOES have to be ‘perfect’ in order to be socially acceptable?
You know – toes – those things that are unique for everybody?
Should thongs be banned in order to cover feet now – just because pretentious wanks like this author are putting more pressure on people to be moulded robots?
What’s next… elbow shape? finger print perfection? ear sculpting??
Come on guys. I’m in marketing and photo editing… but this is going too far. I can’t believe you paid someone to actually write this article.
Really!? Mumbrella – I just lost a HEAP of respect for you. Shame.

Very little gets my goat. He’s blind and can’t see too far in front of his face.
But the thought that he could be walking along St Kilda road and be distracted by these hideous feet (keep in mind, he wouldn’t have to turn his head because he has sideways eyes), is just too much to bare.
It’s feet like these that keep my goat at home.
Amanda, there’s a certain level of professionalism that can be expected from a $300 an hour retoucher. It is unlikely that the author of the article would cry a tear for your lost respect.
My goat certainly wouldn’t. He’s not very sensitive.

Our “talent” with the real feet who we featured on a tram is a yoga loving customer of Bank of Melbourne who we wanted to celebrate and recognise as a real Maker in this great city – we think she rocks ?

Have you ever seen a ballerina’s feet?
A soccer players feet?
A rock-climbers or mountaineer’s feet?
People who lead active lives have bodies that reflect that, and they are proud of their ‘battle scars’, as they represent part of what they overcome to reach their dreams.
Humans are not all perfect models who lie around on sofas all day getting pedicures.
This advertisement is about _real_ people.

Wow…I learnt a lot about…nothing. How is this even worthy of being published? At least go into topics about perception vs reality and *why* post editing is or isn’t important. I think BoM’s objective was clearly met; to represent real people hence “Melbourne’s Makers.”

Despite the fact that she rocks, she should wear socks,
If her twisted toes are going to be seen up close,
On the side of a tram where I can see her toejam.

Actually, they look like they have been Photoshopped to look bad. Not that my own toes are much better.
