Bastion Brands hires seven in response to demand for healthcare comms services

Healthcare communications agency, Bastion Brands, has made seven hires including account director, Ana Vulinovich, and senior medical consultant, Dr Sue Cripps.

The hires are a response to the agency experiencing an increase in demand from the healthcare and pharmaceuticals industry for its services.

Bastion Brands founder and chief executive, Simon Davies, commented on the changes the COVID-19 pandemic has forced upon the healthcare industry.

“Big changes like the emergence of eHealth, sales representatives unable to meet with GPs, virtual sales conferences and a much bigger focus on health from the public have seen the demand for effective, differentiating communications higher than ever before,” Davies said.

“New demand for services from Bastion Brands has been built around break-through products we’ve developed for pharmaceutical companies to communicate during the COVID-19 world with doctors, specialists and – on disease awareness initiatives – with the end patient.

“The fastest-growing demand for specialised communications support is in Medical Education, and we’ve added four new experts to this capability.”

Four of the seven new staff will be based in the Melbourne team, and three will be in the Sydney office.

Cripps will be in the Sydney office, alongside new senior medical writer Kate Wilson and account executive Kristina Djikanovic.

Cripps has 25 years’ experience in medical communications, previously working at Ward 6, Arterial Marketing, McCann Health and Ogilvy Healthworld. She has a PhD in Biochemistry.

Wilson has worked as a medical writer for over five years, holding roles at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness and Ward 6.

Vulinovich started in March, after relocating to Melbourne from London where she was an account director at CDM. She has a Masters of Science in Pharmacology and has worked in a number of healthcare communications roles.

Account manager, Laura Butters, and senior medical writer, Adam Hall, have also relocated from London this year. Butters spent almost three years at Cello Health Communications and Hall joins from clinical research business Parexel where he worked on a pricing and market access team.

The last addition to the Bastion Brands team is Donna Bartlett, who has joined to work on medical education and strategy development. Bartlett has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 17 years, in which she has worked in several medical and marketing communications roles.
