Bastion Reputation Management appoints two new principal consultants

Bastion Reputation Management has appointed two new senior principal consultants including Anna Gillett and Andrew Mendelawitz.

The announcement:

Bastion Reputation Management boosts senior ranks

Bastion Reputation Management has welcomed the addition of two new principal consultants who have joined the ranks of the corporate communications company.

Anna Gillett, former Head of Government Relations and Corporate Communications at Melbourne Airport and Andrew Mendelawitz, who has spent more than a decade working in corporate communications and investor relations with a range of mining, energy and start-up companies, took up consulting roles with Bastion Reputation Management in July.

Bastion Reputation Management Managing Director Brian Walsh said the two principal consultants would significantly boost the company’s ability to provide senior strategic counsel to its growing client roster and expand its growing crisis simulation and issues management capability.

“Andrew and Anna both bring a strong background and expertise in working with companies that are constantly dealing with issues while still needing to drive a strong and consistent corporate story,” Walsh said.

“As a company we believe in partnering with our clients to help them do the right thing – and then communicate it effectively and efficiently. We also believe in building capability within the organisations we work with so they are better equipped after having worked with us, whether on a short or long-term basis. We think the experience Anna and Andrew bring will provide significant long-term benefits for our clients.”

Andrew Mendelawitz has held senior roles in mining, energy, sports apparel and venture capital at a series of companies, including Fortescue Metals, Cleveland Mining and Italian sports brand Kappa. He founded corporate communications and investor relations consultancy 8th Avenue Communications.

He was formerly a Director and Vice President of the Australia, New Zealand, Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ANZMEX) and a strategic advisor to ASX-listed Authorised Investment Fund Ltd. and private pharmaceutical developer Pharmachal Pty Ltd. Andrew is a member of Channel 31 Advisory Council and Honorary Consul-elect to the Republic of Guatemala in the State of Victoria.

Anna Gillett has more than 15 years’ experience working in corporate affairs roles within publicly listed companies, private firms and government.

Throughout her career, Anna has focused on strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and issues and crisis management across a broad range of industries.

Before taking on the role of Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations at Melbourne Airport, Anna was previously Head of Corporate Communications, leading the external communications and public positioning for the airport as well as providing strategic advice to the Executive team on issues and crisis management.

Anna’s experience also extends across the telecommunications, engineering, infrastructure, energy and agriculture sectors in Victoria and Western Australia.

In other moves at Bastion Reputation Management:

· Jonathon Mahon, who joined Bastion more than a year ago after working on major accounts at Royce and PPR, has now been promoted to Head of Client Strategy.

· Bastion Reputation Management is also seeking an experienced media trainer to support General Manager of Training Catherine Parker in the growing media and communications-training arm of the business and another Account Director to assist with the growth in corporate communications work.

Bastion Reputation Management chairman Paul Lappin said the addition of the new talent and the promotion of Mahon would not only bolster the experience across more industries but also support the expansion of the business.

“While Bastion Reputation Management started as a crisis and issues management consultancy it has quickly grown to support our partners with communications training, organisational change management and internal communications, crisis preparedness and training, corporate position and strategy as well as providing independent and honest counsel to CEOs, Boards and executives,” Lappin said.

“It is vital that we continue to focus on building trust by supporting our clients and helping them solve their communications and reputation issues, whether big or small. What we have found is that as that trust has grown, so has the opportunities for Bastion Reputation Management.”
