Batman v Superman continues to dominate box office on weekend with no big new releases

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice continued to dominate the box office over the weekend, taking more than $4.5m on 550 screens.

In a week where there were no significant new films released, the DC Comics adaptation, which has been critically panned, took its Australian box office to $22.728m since launching over the Easter weekend.

Disney film Zootopia leap-frogged My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 in to second spot, raising its takings slightly to $3.168m on 442 screens, with a total box office of $14.611m.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 slumped to $2.792m on its second week on 373 screens, while Kung Fu Panda 3, managed $1.886m on 456 screens, as the animated sequel continued to struggle.

Deadpool is still hanging around the top 10 with its $343,156 on 156 screens, moving its total takings to $42.6m.
