Bauer appoints Tony Kendall as director of sales after Monti spends just five months at helm
Bauer Media has appointed former News Limited sales supremo Tony Kendall as its new director of sales.
Kendall spent 23 years in senior roles at News Limited in Melbourne, Sydney and New York, as well as a year as CEO of News Magazines. He left company last November.
Kendall replaces Leigh Monti who is leaving the role after just five months in the job.
Monti replaced Louise Barrett, whose move to Ten was announced in September.
Monti will run sales at Bauer’s Trader Media group. The company said his move was as a result of wanting to go to Melbourne for family reasons.
Bauer CEO Matthew Stanton said: “Tony’s connections and understanding of the advertising and marketing industry in Australia are second to none. We are very pleased that Tony has accepted our offer to join Bauer Media at this important time for the business as we continue to develop and grow our magazine brands across multi-platforms.”
Bauer – previously ACP Magazines – is Australia’s largest magazine publisher.
Kendall said: “I am delighted to be joining the Bauer Media Group as I have always enjoyed working for great brands and at Bauer Media the brands are without peer in Australia.”
Kendall takes up his new role with Bauer Media in a fortnight.

good luck Tony, gutsy move !
The magazine industry will have to re-invent itself, as evidenced with the global rationalisation of Time Life & Meredith magazines recently.
Are they still relevant in this digital age ?
The jury is out …

Nice one Tony. News will regret that move. Best commercial sales person in the media industry by far.
