Adventures group takes Trade-A-Boat off Bauer Media, promising to make it the ‘buying and selling bible’

Adventure Group Holdings will take over publishing of Bauer Media’s Trade-A-Boat magazine with the new owners promising to restore the publication’s status as the ‘buying and selling bible.’

It comes 11 months after Adventure Group acquired five Bauer titles, including Caravan World, Camper and Outdoor Magazines, to former general manager, adventures at Bauer Xcel Media, Rob Gallagher.

Trade-A-Boat is the latest acquisition by Adventures Group Holdings

The magazine was first published 40 years ago, and features boats for sale, editorial content, and boat reviews.

As part of the acquisition, Adventures will work closely with marine content specialists Moby Dick Content, publisher of The Captain, to develop a strategy for its newest publication.

Former Bauer staffer and Adventures CEO Gallagher said Trade-A-Boat will complement the broader business and provide a new opportunity to engage brands and grow audiences.

“Our business has demonstrated its ability to adapt to market conditions and grow audience size and engagement for brands, and those of our partners,” Gallagher said.

“The addition of Trade-A-Boat expands our audience reach to more than half-a-million online users per month and enhances our marketplace offering to manufacturer and dealer partners.”

Adventures content director Travis Godfredson said the company’s goal was to elevate Trade-A-Boat to become the “buying and selling bible, yet again.”

“Many of us have bought a boat, or dreamt of buying a boat, within the pages of Trade-A-Boat,” Godfredson said.

“This announcement signals the next exciting voyage for this important publishing icon. Our goal is to elevate Trade-A-Boat back to the mantle of the buying and selling bible, yet again. Adventures is the right business to take the challenge on. It listens to the market and is committed to great business outcomes through good content.”

The company will take over publishing from October 1.

It comes a week after Bauer Media announced it had folded its custom publishing arm BauerWorks into other areas of the business.
