Boss Baby climbs to second at weekend box office but can’t beat Beauty and The Beast
It was unable to knock Beauty and the Beast off the top spot, however Boss Baby landed in second place at the weekend box office, making a total of $2.441m.
While last week the animated film placed fourth, with earnings of $1.977m, it successfully took over The Lego Batman Movie and Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell, bringing its total earnings to $11.638m.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast topped the weekend box office for the third week in a row, collecting $4.960m across 588 screens.
According to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia, the re-make of Disney’s animated film has made $34.302m since its premiere on March 23.
Warner Brothers’ The Lego Batman movie held third place over the weekend, taking in $1.765m across 360 screens.
On its premiere weekend, the film earned $2.283m, giving it a total of $5.554m.
Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell slipped into fourth place from second, making $1.193m across 423 screens.
Sony’s Smurfs: The Lost Village jumped from ninth to fifth place over the weekend making $930,005 over the weekend.
Last week the film managed $518,203 at the weekend box office. It had made a total of $2.115m since its release.
