The Big Adventure audience collapses on second Sunday outing as Gotham also down

The Seven Network’s new franchise The Big Adventure has seen its audience fall dramatically from last week with the show recording a metropolitan audience of just 664,000, down from 945,000 last week.

The result saw The Big Adventure comprehensively beaten in the 6.30pm slot by Nine’s new reality program The Embassy which follows people seeking help at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok, which grew its audience marginally from 874,000 last week to 882,000.

The Big Adventure appears to have been impacted in part by the decision not to simulcast the show as it was last week, which would have contributed to the 30 per cent audience collapse. However, Seven was able to score a very narrow victory in audience share on its main channel with a 19.8 per cent main channel audience share compared with 19.7 per cent for Nine.

In Perth The Big Adventure was shown at 8.30pm after Telethon 2014 which was on 6.30pm-8.30pm drawing 203,000 viewers, giving Seven a share of 28.4 per cent there, according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight metro data.

The Telethon, which raised $25m, meant Seven’s regular schedule was not shown in the west last night, leading to several shows dropping off.

In the 7.30 slot Nine’s 60 Minutes carved out a win with the program pulling 1.056m viewers to be the top program of the night, with Seven’s Sunday Night drawing 781,000 at 8pm.

Ten’s new episode of Modern Family drew 694,000, meaning it also beat The Big Adventure in the 6.30pm timeslot. Over on Nine Gotham’s audience continued to fall with the show drawing an audience of 626,000 down from 698,000 last week and the 1.239m it drew on its debut two week ago. This is also the second Sunday in a row where Nine has chosen not to screen Big Brother.

The return to Seven of Ressurection drew an audience of 460,000 at 9pm

Drama series Scorpion was Ten’s second highest rating program of the night with an audience of 608,000 viewers at 6.30pm, while a repeat of Modern Family drew 606,000.

Over on ABC Doctor Who got 566,000 viewers from 7.45pm, while political thriller The Code drew 564,000 at 8.30pm.

In the news stakes Seven News beat Nine News across the metropolitan markets with 1.024m to 980,000 viewers at 6pm.

With Seven narrowly beating Nine in audience share Ten had an 12.2 per cent share while the ABC had 12 per cent and SBS 5.7 per cent.
