Big Bang repeats shift to Seven’s main channel and beats Married at First Sight on Nine

Big bang theory top non news showSeven reaped the rewards after poaching the back catalogue for The Big Bang Theory from Nine with a repeat of the show beating Nine’s Married at First Sight UK last night.

The Big Bang Theory was shifted to the main channel after some outings on 7Mate and pulled 681,000 metropolitan viewers in the 9pm slot, beating Nine’s show which had 508,000 viewers from 8.40 – 9.40pm.

Both shows were beaten by the ABC’s Four Corners which had 726,000 viewers and Ten’s Have you been paying attention which had 686,000, however it helped Seven to win the night with 20 per cent of the audience to Nine’s 19 per cent.

In the 7.30pm slot Nine’s The Block beat the X Factor with an audience of 1.016m compared with 1.003m with the renovation reality show also winning across all the demographics.

The ABC’s Australian Story was the most watched non-news program of the night with 1.027m viewers tuning in to watch a profile of Byron Bay inventor Cedar Anderson.

In the news races Nine News nationally beat Seven in both timeslots with the TV network pulling 1.095m at 6pm and 1.073m at 6.30pm. Seven had 1.028m at 6pm falling to 1.014 at 6.30pm.

A special rural edition of the ABC’s Q&A live from Toowoomba and hosted by Tom Ballard drew 485,000 viewers down from last week where its normal show drew 575,000.

Yesterday’s Rugby World Cup match between Argentina and Australia on Fox Sports drew an audience of 144,000 despite being on early in the morning.
