The Big Bang Theory wins 1.1m for Nine leading over Winners and Losers

Nine’s new episode of The Big Bang Theory won 1.104m metro viewers last night proving more popular than its flagship show The Block and ranking well ahead of Seven’s drama Winners and Losers.

The Big Bang Theory was second in all programs, as Winners and Losers averaged 930,000 from 8.40pm, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

However Seven’s My Kitchen Rules continued to hold its place as the highest rating show of the night with 1.792m metro viewers, dropping from its dominant 2.11m rating last Tuesday.

Ten’s coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games included Australian Anna Segel’s near-miss with Olympic bronze in the women’s ski slopestyle final.

The final had 774,000 viewers in all cities but Perth and a combined total of 818,000 for both Ten and One.

It competed with MKR and The Block from 7.30pm in Brisbane and Adelaide, and from 8pm in Sydney and Melbourne, however in Perth the race was on from 5pm to 6pm.

The evening session of the Games averaged 665,000 across the five cities for Channel Ten and a combined audience of 886,000 for Ten and One.

Meanwhile Nine’s The Block: Fans vs Faves moved up from seventh to third in all programs as its audience grew from 1.03m last week to 1.1m last night.

In the evening news battle Seven and Nine were neck and neck from 6pm to 6.30pm, and Nine just won the timeslot with 1.055m as Seven News averaged 1.051m.

However in the second half hour Seven’s combination of news on the east coast and Today Tonight in Perth and Adelaide helped the network win 1.015m over the 999,000 for Nine News 6:30.

Seven’s Sunrise won the breakfast battle with 349,000 metro viewers as Today had 284,000.

And Seven won the night with a 24.3 per cent audience share as Nine had 21.2 per cent. Ten won a 14.6 per cent share of the audience and was third for the night, while One was fifth behind the ABC with a five per cent share of the audience.
