Channel Nine’s reality show Big Brother breaks Seven’s magic spell

big brother logoChannel Nine’s Big Brother continued to deliver for Nine in the key advertising demographic of 25-54 in Thursday night’s ratings.

Although the reality contest was seventh for the night in all people, it was top in 25-54. And Nine also won the night, according to the preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTAM.

The show, which had a metro audience of 820,000 between 7pm and 8.30, was just behind Seven’s Home And Away  which averaged 881,000 from 7pm to 8pm.

Seven’s Dynamo for the second time since last week, as Dynamo: Magician Impossible averaged 775,000 viewers, a significant drop from the 938,000 it had two weeks ago.

Meanwhile 7.30’s Leigh Sales interview with the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, saw the ABC1 programme average 806,000 viewers.

And Channel Ten’s Save with Jamie, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s latest TV series also on at 7.30pm, had 597,000 viewers and was 15th for the night. Save with Jamie was eighth in Ten’s target demographic of 25-54s.

Seven’s new game show Million Dollar Minute fell behind Nine’s Hot Seat for the second time since its successful launch to 811,000 on Monday. Last night Hot Seat had 581,000 viewers, above Million Dollar Minute’s 573,000, and Hot Seat won in all cities but Adelaide and Perth.

The ABC’s comedy drama Upper Middle Bogan averaged 698,000 metro viewers making it eleventh for the night.

In the morning battle the gap narrowed between Sunrise and Today with Channel Nine’s Today show taking 319,000 viewers across the five cities – and winning in Sydney and Melbourne – while Sunrise had the most viewers overall with 329,000.
