BMF appoints former Facebook Oculus ECD Luke Martin as group creative director
BMF has appointed Luke Martin as group creative director.
Martin has spent the last seven years in the US, joining BMF from Facebook in San Francisco, where he was the executive creative director of its augmented and virtual reality team Oculus.
Prior to Facebook, Martin spent six months as a senior art director at Apple, and has previously worked at TBWA Media Arts Lab in Los Angeles.
BMF executive creative director Alex Derwin said in a statement: “Luke’s breadth of experience is remarkable. He’s made everything from brand platforms, documentary films and video games to AR and VR experiences, so when we heard he was thinking of a return to Australia, we knew we wanted him onboard. As well as bolstering BMF with world-class creative thinking, he’ll continue our push into new and exciting territories. He’s also from Emu Plains, and only good things come out of Emu Plains.”
Martin said of his appointment: “BMF is known, not just for making great creative, but effective creative. So coming from brands like Facebook and Apple, where the focus is to build platforms and products that are world-class and impactful, made the opportunity seem like a natural fit. I’m stoked to be back in Australia and landing at such a great agency.”
In Australia, Martin’s experience spans News Limited, Whybin TBWA, and Ursa Clemenger.

Hi Rusty.
I suspect that comment was meant rather more lightheartedly than you may have taken it. I interpret it to mean that Apple and Facebook is a rather impressive list and “subpar” is a joke…
Cheers,
