The two-minute long work from Emotive promotes the hashtag #FanUpAUS launched a week ago with the help of SBS newsreader Lee Lin Chin in a bizarre ad pushing for Aussies to support our Olympians. You can see more of Emotive’s campaign work here.

Thorpe cops a barrage of criticism from the Hipsters, who question the value of his achievements in the pool, in the greater scheme of things, before revealing that Thorpe is their flatmate and he is late with the rent.

“By the way, rent’s due. If you are another day late we are selling another one of your gold medals,” one of the hipsters warns; however, Thorpe manages to get the last laugh.

The campaign is at odds with the usual fan-support campaigns in its attempt to rally sports fans to send massages of support to competitors in Rio.
