Bondi Sands extends Australian Open partnership

Bondi Sands is extending its partnership with the Australian Open (AO) into its second term, affirming its title as the Grand Slam event’s official sunscreen partner until 2027.

The brand’s sponsorship agency, Twenty3 Sport & Entertainment, negotiated the partnership renewal and will oversee the delivery of all of the brands’ onsite activity and broader leverage plans. In addition, AMPR continues to amplify the Australian Open partnership through a strategic PR approach for a fourth year.

“As we have become a globally recognised brand and market leader in suncare, extending our partnership with Tennis Australia for the Australian Open has formed a major part of our strategy for the Bondi Sands suncare category. Our team have been working hard to continue to deliver sun protection to fans at the Australian Open, and 2024 will be bigger and better than ever” said Shaun Wilson, co-founder and CEO of Bondi Sands.

Tennis Australia chief commericial officer, Cedric Conelis, added that the brand’s “commitment to sun safety” aligned perfectly with Tennis Australia’s “dedication to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all fans throughout the Summer of Tennis”.

In 2023, Bondi Sands handed out 500,000 free samples of its Sport SPF 50 Sunscreen in activations across the AO tournament.

This year, Bondi Sands will activate misting stations and sunscreen sampling throughout the AO precinct, running a dedicated activation at the Grand Slam oval between 14 to 28 January.

The announcement coincides with Bondi Sands new Sports SPF product launch – Wet Skin SPF Lotion. 600,000 samples of the product will be available for fans at the AO tournament.

The Australian Open commences on Sunday 14 January on Nine. Nine Entertainment retained the broadcast rights at the end of 2022, in a deal that will extend until the 2029 season. The network first won the rights from rival Seven for a reported $48.5 million in 2018.
