Boys do cry but no one cares about your podcast – Mumbrella Audioland adds more key sessions

The Hallway CEO and partner Jules Hall and CCO and partner Simon Lee, Eardrum and Resonance founder Ralph van Dijk, Shameless Media co-founders Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews and Fear & Greed co-founder Michael Thompson are some of the new industry leaders locked in to speak at Mumbrella Audioland.

Set to take place on 27 April at the Sofitel Darling Harbour, Sydney, they join previously announced global keynote speaker, Tom Beckman, global chief creative officer of Weber Shandwick, who will fly out from Sweden to take part.

Mumbrella Audioland aims to place audio opportunities, strategies and ideas in the spotlight with key leaders from across the industry laying out how they are currently using the medium and why.

In the newly confirmed sessions, Hall and Lee will focus on anthemic audio advertising.

By definition, an anthem is a rousing or uplifting song – a powerful audio experience. So how can brands harness the power of anthemic audio to affect an audience and drive maximum impact?

The session will take you behind the scenes to reveal the strategy and creative process behind the highly acclaimed Boys Do Cry campaign that tackles men’s mental health head on.

Cutting through a saturated podcast market will also be up for some very real discussion.

With an estimated 424 million podcast listeners worldwide by the end of 2022 there is no shortage of demand for quality audio content. But there is also no shortage of podcasts – Spotify alone suggests it has over 3.6 million podcasts on its platform.

Podcast creation experts Thompson, McDonald and Andrews will join Nova Entertainment managing producer Elle Beattie on a panel tackling exactly how to offer an audience something different and cut through the noise.

Meanwhile, one of the audio industry’s biggest names, Ralph van Dijk, will join a discussion on how to ensure your sonic brand is best-in-class. Audio expert Nick West has also been confirmed on the panel.

Sonic branding can connect with audiences on a deeper sensory level and unify a brand under a ubiquitous sonic signature. The session will look at challenges including developing a strategy to the point of execution, the process of creating an audio identity that will reflect and enhance a brand’s reputation and much more.

More industry experts will be confirmed on the panel shortly.
