Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller to host My Generation

Radio personalities Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller have been appointed to host MCM Media’s radio show My Generation.

The announcement:

MCM Media has announced a new era in its much-loved radio show ‘My Generation®’ with broadcast stars Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones and Amanda Keller appointed as the show’s new hosts for 2011.

The pair, who will continue to host the WSFM Breakfast show, are only the fourth hosts in the show’s 12-year history. They take the reins from Jonathan ‘Jono’ Coleman who successfully steered the program to two Australian Commercial Radio Awards for Best Syndicated Program and celebrated the 600th show earlier this year. As Jono hands over the keys to a finely tuned ‘My Gen’, he predicts a big year for the new show with Jonesy and Amanda and turns his focus to the huge year ahead for ‘The Jono & Dano Show’.

A nationwide hit, My Generation is a two-hour syndicated show that continues to reach more than 450,000* people week after week across 92 radio stations including the Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) Classic Hits metropolitan stations.

“This is great news. Jonesy and Amanda have brilliant chemistry and will add a new dimension to My Generation – we are very excited about where they’ll take this iconic show,” said ARN National Content Director Duncan Campbell.

My Generation is a retrospective journey through the music, people and events of the 70s, 80s and 90s, every week focusing on one particular year. From news to movies, politics to fashion, all the seminal events and memories are covered, along with the most important ingredient of all – the music. And it is a content-rich format that continues to resonate with the target market, transporting listeners to a time that they can relate to, a time that created the songs they still love.

A highly experienced TV and radio professional, Amanda is no stranger to discussing everything about her generation thanks to her TV gig on the hugely popular Network Ten show, Talkin’ Bout Your Generation.

She began her media career on Simon Townsend’s Wonder World and since then has worked behind and in front of the camera – or microphone – across some of the country’s most successful programs.

Jonesy is a multi-award-winning radio presenter along with being one of the most popular and experienced.

He’s also a TV personality appearing on Joker Poker on Channel 10, has a regular spot on Mornings with Kerri-Anne, and hosts Off the Record on the World Movies channel.

“It’s great to be back with MCM Media. ‘My Gen’ has always been one of my favourite radio shows and to be doing it with ‘the manda’ right across the country is like playing for Australia back in the days when we were good at cricket” he said.

“I’ve long been a fan of My Generation. It’s the perfect radio show – info, trivia and stacks of memories. Jono leaves behind some big shoes to fill but I’m thrilled and privileged to be part of the ‘My Gen’ tradition with Jonesy,“ said Keller.

The show has a new time slot of 4pm-6pm on Saturday in all five major capital cities while regional station on-air times are yet to be confirmed.
