SCA Hit Network’s B105 has remained on top for the last radio ratings survey of the year, winning overall share and the breakfast timeslot, while Nova fought hard for a near 5% lead in the drive timeslot.
The last radio ratings of the year saw a steady end to the year for the Brisbane radio market, with B105 holding onto its overall lead for the third survey running despite a loss of 0.2 points on the last book. Having first knocked Nova off its first-place perch in Survey six, B105 saw a 13.0% overall share in the eighth GfK metro radio ratings survey of 2022, which ran from Sunday 25 September to Saturday 3 December.
Nova finally stabilised after feeling significant losses over the previous two surveys, with no change to its 12.7% share. SCA’s Triple M filled out the top three, despite a loss of 0.5 points, for a total overall share of 10.5%.
ARN’s KISS 97.3 also avoided any further losses, remaining on 9.8$ share in fourth place, with Nine’s 4BH falling further behind after a 1.0% loss on the last survey. Triple J regained some of the losses of previous surveys, up 0.9% overall.
Looking at breakfast and B105 ‘s Stav, Abbey and Matt held onto the lead it regained in survey seven, with a 13.7% share in the timeslot, down 0.2 points on the last book. In second position, Nova’s Ash, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill crept forward slightly a 0.1% gain for 13.1%, while in third position Triple M’s Breakfast with Marto and Margaux fell down 0.8 points, for a 9.5% share.
The biggest movement in the breakfast time slot came from Triple J Breakfast, who managed to jump for 1.8 percentage points since survey seven for a 6.6% share. The biggest loss was seen by 4BC Breakfast, which lost 1.9 points on the last book, down to 8.9% share, falling behind KISS 97.3’s new breakfast lineup, Robin, Terry and Kip, on 9.5% share for the breakfast timeslot.
Nova’s Kate, Tim and Joel fortified its lead in the drive timeslot, up 0.7 points for a share of 17.2% – nearly 5 points ahead of its nearest competition despite recent controversy surrounding show host Kate Ritchie. Ritchie announced she would be temporarily departing the show in October, with Australian music personality Ricki-Lee Coulter filling in during her absence.
B105 ‘s Carrie and Tommy remained strong in second place, dropping a minor 0.3% points on the last book for a 12.5% share of drive audience, while Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Leisel Jones, Liam & Dobbo reversed the losses of the last survey, gaining 1.6% points for an 11% share.
Other big changes in the drive timeslot include a 1.2 point loss for ABC Brisbane, which is now on just 3.5% share, as well as a 1.5 point drop for 4BH’s Cathy Jubb, for a 3.9% share.
