Brisbane radio ratings: NOVA holds lead as Hit Network creeps forward

Nova 106.9 has remained dominant in the Brisbane radio market in the latest radio ratings, holding its overall lead and again topping both key timeslots as competitors continue to shuffle in second and third place.

The station managed to creep its overall share ahead a further 0.4 points on the last book, for an impressive total share of 13% of people over 10 in the fifth GfK metro radio ratings survey of 2022, which ran from Sunday 22 May to Saturday 25 June and Sunday 10 July to Saturday 13 August.

Next in overall share, the Hit Network (B105) has reasserted itself comfortably within the top three, managing to jump ahead 1.1 points since the last survey. The win bumped Hit up to second place on 12.2%, ahead of KISS 97.3, which saw the station revert on its gains in the last survey, with a loss of 0.8 percentage points, bringing it back down to an overall share of 10.8%.

Remaining in fourth position, despite a loss of 1.2% on the last book was Triple M, with a total share of 9.7% of people over 10. Other big moves in overall share included a heartening gain of 1.4 points for Nine Entertainment’s 4BC, now on 7.7% of share, as well as another big loss for ABC Brisbane, which has continued to fall quite steeply, losing another 1.8 percentage points for a total 5.2% share. The public station had held 9.3% of share as recently as March this year.

To breakfast, and Nova’s Ash, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill has reinforced its lead with a 1.3 point gain on the last book for a 14.4% of share of the timeslot. However Hit Network’s Stav, Abbey & Matt also continued to gain steadily, jumping up 1.0 percentage point into second place for a 13.0% of breakfast share, ahead of Triple M Breakfast with Marto and Margaux, which was met with a disappointing 1.5 point fall, to 10.5%.

Just behind in fourth place, 4BC’s Breakfast with Laurel, Gary & Mark has jumped up 2.1 points on the last book for 10.1% share, while former timeslot leader, ABC Brisbane lost a further 1.5 points, now down to 7.4% of breakfast share. Nine station 4BH’s Scott Menz managed to triple its share, up 2.1 points to 3.2% share.

There was significant movement in the drive timeslot, however Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel managed to stay out in front on 15.2% share, despite a fall of 0.5 points. Continuing on an impressive trajectory towards the top, Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy added another 1.8 gain this survey, having already jumped 1.2 points in survey four, now on a total of 13.7% share for the drive timeslot.

Battling it out for third position was KISS’ Will & Woody and Triple M’s The Rush Hour with Leisel, Liam & Dobbo, with KISS just scraping ahead despite a fall of 1.5 points on the last book. The Rush Hour with Leisel, Liam & Dobbo also faced a loss of 0.7 points since last survey, for a drive share of 10.3%. Both stations had welcomed significant gains during the last survey period.

After a hefty loss in survey four, ABC Brisbane’s Drive program has somewhat stabilised, only dropping 0.2 percentage points on the last book, down to 5.6% of drive share. 4BH’s Cathy Jubb also performed significantly better than recent surveys, gaining 2.8 percentage points for 2.8% share in the drive timeslot.
