Adspend in Australia to grow by 1.4 per cent next year, says Carat

Advertising spend in Australia will rise by 1.4 per cent next year, media agency Carat has predicted, in its first forecast for 2014.

The company has also revised its predictions for 2013 upwards from a fall of 2 per cent to a rise of 1.5 per cent.

Carat is part of Aegis Media. Sister agencies in Australia include the country’s biggest agency Mitchell & Partners along with Vizeum.

The prediction came as part of a global forecast. After more then two years of declining spend globally, Aegis says 2013 will see spend rise in every major market.

Jerry Buhlmann, CEO of Aegis, said: “Carat’s latest advertising forecast gives us increased optimism for the outlook for global advertising spends, particularly for 2014. For some markets the journey will remain challenging as the economic trend of two-speed world continues, with lower growth in Western Europe and North America and higher growth in the faster-growing regions of Asia Pacific and Latin America.”
