Cardinal Spin wins Mardi Gras PR campaign

PR agency Cardinal Spin has secured the 2014 PR account for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade.

The announcement:

Top festival communications and events agency Cardinal Spin has added some sparkle to its stable by securing the 2014 PR account for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras – the world’ s biggest night-time parade and one of Australia’s most economically significant events, second only to New Year’s Eve.

The appointment is another milestone for the Sydney-based company which, over the past five years, has represented some of Australia’s largest arts, culture and sporting events and festivals including Sydney Film Festival, Tropfest, Australian Open of Surfing, FIA World Rally Championships, Australian Badminton Open and Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority.

Mardi Gras’ Senior Marketing Manager and Festival Producer James Rongen-Hall said of the appointment: “We are so excited to welcome Cardinal Spin on board as our communications agency for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2014. Their experience and expertise in the festival space is unparalleled, and apart from that, they are a delight to work with!”

“As well as being a treasured event for the people of Sydney and Australia, Mardi Gras is an internationally recognised beacon of LGBTQI pride and diversity, and with Cardinal Spin on our team, we are confident that we can communicate our message of love and acceptance more widely than ever.”

Cardinal Spin Co-founder and Director Amber Forrest-Bisley added, “It’s a huge honour and a wonderful opportunity to be able to work with Mardi Gras. The festival has an incredible history and importance to Australian culture, the political landscape, people from all walks of life, and the international community.”

“There are some really exciting plans for the 2014 Mardi Gras season and we look forward to announcing them publicly over the coming months. Stay tuned and prepare for one hell of a party!” she says.

Few festivals come as impressive, or with more glitter than the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. The event draws more than 20,000 unique visitors to Sydney each year and generates around $30 million for the New South Wales economy.

The 2014 Mardi Gras season will kick off February 7, with a rich month-long calendar of cultural, arts and sporting events, culminating in the Parade and Party itself on March 1.

The season of Mardi Gras events are run by the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG), a not-for-profit member-based organisation which aims to raise the visibility of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities. They aim to inspire the world to love each other by celebrating the power and beauty of diversity.
