Carnival Australia pitches PR account as incumbent agency MG Media Communications closes

Cruise company Carnival Australia is on the hunt for a new public relations agency across five of its brands with the pitch a result of incumbent agency MG Media Communications preparing to close its doors next month.

Specialising in travel and tourism, MG Media Communications work with Longitude 131, Southern Ocean Lodge, Capella Lodge, Peter Sommer Travels, CLIA Australasia, Aranui, Air Tahiti Nui, Tahiti Tourisme, Avalon Waterways, Cosmos, Globus, Carnival Australia, P&O Cruises World Cruising, Seabourn, Cunard, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises and P&O Cruises Australia.

Libby Moffet, co-founder of MG Media Communications, told Mumbrella: “We have been very privileged to work with some wonderful clients over the past two decades including Carnival Australia and we are very grateful for the trust they have put in us.

“However 24 years is a long time in any role and running a business has its own set of demands. We’re looking forward to practising what we’ve been preaching for so long and taking time out for some travel.”

The agency will continue to service all its clients as it works through the transition process over the coming weeks.

Carnival is hunting for a PR agency which will work across all of its brands including: Cunard, Fathom, Holland America Line, P&O, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises and Seabourn.

Sandy Olsen, vice president of corporate affairs for Carnival Australia, said in a statement: “We are humbled by the dedicated service MG Media has given to Carnival Australia and all of its brands over many years.

“By any measure, this has been a hugely successful partnership with MG Media’s principal Libby Moffet, and we wish her and her team well for the future.  The search for a new agency represents a new beginning and opportunities for us all, and we are excited to find another agency that will support our continued public relations efforts.

“We have an ambitious goal of two million Aussies cruising and see this as an opportunity to forge a relationship with an agency partner to help us continue to lead this growth, and the cruise industry in Australia, for years to come,” she said.

All brands excluding Holland America Line and P&O Cruises World Cruising are currently seeking request for proposals, with entries closing on Tuesday April 11.
