Carsales acquires local adtech business Publift

Digital automotive marketplace Carsales acquired adtech business Publift in February, according to documents filed with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

The filings show that the business’ ex-Google founders, CEO Colm Dolan, and executive director, Carlos Perez, ceased their director positions within the company in January.

Publift works with online publishers using programmatic advertising technology for revenue generation by optimising automated marketplaces for advertisers to bid on ad space.

According to a report by Nine’s masthead The Sydney Morning Herald, Publift is expected to sit inside Carsales’ in-house media division established last year.

In Carsales’ latest half-year financial results, the company flagged the potential it saw for continued expansion of native ad products’ programmatic capability and non-automotive diversification.

Earlier this month, the company announced on the ASX that it had acquired an additional 40% of Brazillian automotive digital marketplace, Webmotors, with approximately A$353 million.
