Caught napping: Match & Wood lands $20m Snooze account

Independent media agency Match & Wood has landed its biggest client in Snooze, after it was reported yesterday the client had departed Starcom after 14 years.

Thought to be worth around $20 million in annual billings, the agency will handle media strategy, planning, and buying for all paid media aside from search.

Mumbrella understands that also coming across from Starcom is client services director, Anna Camuglia who recently left the agency after 15 years.

According to several industry sources, Camuglia has now joined Match & Wood, however, the agency said this was untrue.

General manager for marketing at Snooze, Doni Davies said: “Match & Wood’s experience and detailed strategic media approach were the right fit for Snooze. We were looking for an agency that would work as an extension of our dedicated team, and the more time we spent together it was clear that they believed in the same things as we did, which we feel sets a solid foundation for the future. There is a strong cultural fit and we look forward to partnering with them to achieve our ambitious growth plans for the business.”

Match & Wood’s chief operating officer, Chris O’Keefe added: “Snooze is a major Australian retailer and a brand synonymous for delivering quality bedding and bedroom products. We are delighted to have been appointed after a competitive pitch, which recognises the expertise we have across media strategy, planning and buying. This is a significant milestone in Match & Wood’s history and testament to the depth of specialist talent we have in the agency.”

Snooze currently has 80 locations across Australia through a franchise network.

The appointment came into effect last week.

Other Match & Wood clients include Chobani Australia, Curtin University, HIF Australia, and Private Healthcare Australia.
