Century Batteries thanks Australia in 90th birthday celebrations

Century Batteries is celebrating its 90th Birthday by launching a campaign which focuses on thanking Australia and its long standing employees.

The ‘Thanks Australia’ campaign features retired cricketer Matthew Hayden who scored 40 centuries for Australia and some of the company’s workers who have shipped over one million Century batteries combined.

Century’s ‘Thanks Australia’ campaign builds on last year’s ads which again featured Hayden as he showed customers how reliable Century Batteries are.

The campaign – created by Compadres, Storyline and Kat Cooke – will roll out across TV, digital and print.

Shane Murray, the creative behind the ad, said in a statement: “When you go out to Century and meet with the staff you can see they are the lifeblood of the brand.

“There is this authenticity that is disappearing in Australia: that real sense of Australian pride, of doing the best you can because it’s what you do, not because you expect recognition for it. Lots of brands just don’t get that.”

Andrew Bottoms, marketing manager at Century, added: “We were impressed by the success of our first campaign and how quickly it impacted on brand recognition.

“No other manufacturer has chalked up a century: we are determined to be the first.”
