Changes at Ooh Media as Neil Ackland steps away from chief marketer role
Ooh Media has made some significant changes to its C-suite, with Neil Ackland stepping away from his role of nearly five years.
Ackland, who has held the chief content, marketing, and creative officer title for the past five years, has been moved to the chief retail media officer position, and as a result, Bel Harper has stepped up into the chief product and marketing officer role.
An Ooh Media spokesperson confirmed the moves to Mumbrella on Friday.
“Given the strategic focus and momentum of reo, powered by oOh!media in the rapidly growing retail media space, which this week announced a major partnership with Australia Post and with more announcements to follow, Neil Ackland has been appointed as chief retail media officer to capitalise on these exciting opportunities,” the spokesperson told Mumbrella.
“Bel Harper, who has held senior leadership positions at oOh! for 13 years and worked in out of home for 27 years, adds marketing to her existing product remit, becoming chief product and marketing officer.”
Ackland will head up Ooh Media’s retail media division, Reo, including the recently-announced Australia Post network.
The network will initially launch across 60 Victorian locations, with Reo handling the media sales. Ackland told Mumbrella earlier this week that it is a “powerful opportunity for brand marketers to connect with a broad and diverse audience in a trusted retail environment”.
In September, at its annual ‘Outfront’, Ooh Media announced expansions to the division in a bid to help retailers monetise sales more effectively. It expanded to represent retailers’ assets across stores, websites, apps, and platforms like Meta and Google, moving beyond in-store screens to a full omnichannel digital offering.
As part of the expansion, Nine’s former director of advertising and data products, Ben Campbell, was among a number of new hires.
Editor’s note: Mumbrella has changed the way it deals with company names. House style is now to use standard proper noun capitalisation on all names regardless of brand typography. Brand typograhy may be retained in direct quotes from releases.
