Chris Lilley’s Angry Boys unveiled by the ABC

The ABC has revealed a first look at Chris Lilley’s new series Angry Boys.

Lilley’s previous mockumentaries for the ABC – We Can Be Heroes and Summer Heights High – were ratings draws for the national broadcaster, particularly in younger demographics.

The potentially controversial characters include Lilley playing a pushy Japanese mother.

US network HBO is a co-producer while the BBC has already bought the series too.

According to the ABC the show features 89 main roles and 1228 extras across 850 scenes in more than 70 locations.

Another trailer for the series will air in a fortnight’s time.
