Did Oscars presenter Chris Rock steal Frankie Boyle’s joke?
Like most of the world, Dr Mumbo was glued to the Oscars in anticipation of watching Leonardo DiCaprio’s face if he didn’t win the best actor award.
And he much enjoyed host Chris Rock’s take on proceedings.
At one point, Rock wheeled out three Asian children and told the audience they were PwC’s voting auditors:
“If anybody’s upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids,” he then told the audience.
Which bears an uncanny resemblance to a joke from the British comedian Frankie Boyle whose Live At The Apollo set more than a year ago saw him tell the crowd:
“If you get offended by any jokes, by the way, feel free to Tweet your outrage on a mobile phone made by a ten year old in China.”
Did Chris Rock steal the joke? Dr Mumbo is sure it was just an amazing coincidence.
I think you’ll find jokes about products/ apps being made by child labour in (insert Asian country here) well and truly precede both Rock and Boyle.

Perhaps Boyle penned the gags for Chris Rock..?
