Clemenger BBDO Melbourne hires another duo from London, Jacob Gjelstrup Björdal and Jim Nilsson

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has hired another creative duo from overseas. Jacob Gjelstrup Björdal and Jim Nilsson have joined the agency as senior creatives from McCann in London.

In September, Cannes Grand Prix winning pair, Dal Evans de Almeida and Michael Hughes, joined the agency from AMV BBDO London.

Both Nilsson and Björdal spent four-and-a-half years at McCann, starting out as creatives and being promoted to senior creatives in December 2017. At McCann, the pair worked on campaigns for Xbox and contributed to McCann London’s first-ever Cannes Grand Prix.

Together, they also worked as junior creatives at Work Club and interned at ANR BBDO and Mother.

Clemenger BBDO CCO Stephen de Wolf said: “Every time I’d look at Jacob and Jim’s work it made me wish I’d had some of those ideas, and that’s exactly why we’re thrilled to have them join the team here at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne. They understand culture and importantly, they understand how to help brands leverage it creating unique ideas engaging audiences in new and unexpected ways.

“They’ve not just created world-class work, they also want to inspire the next generation of creatives by lecturing at ad schools and running internship programs. I’m looking forward to working with Jacob and Jim as they bring their creative leadership, global knowledge and unique thinking to Australia.”

Björdal and Nilsson said of their appointments: “We’ve been admiring Clemenger BBDO’s work ever since we got into advertising. We couldn’t be more excited about joining the agency and working together with the super talented people here.”

In August, Clemenger BBDO Sydney and Melbourne CEO, Nick Garrett, left the agency.  Deputy CEO of Clemenger Melbourne, Gayle While, stepped up to become CEO of Clemenger Melbourne, and former VMLY&R co-CEO Pete Bosilkovski was installed as CEO of Clemenger Sydney.
