Clemenger executive creative director Maddocks resigns

Clemenger BBDO Sydney executive creative director Richard Maddocks has resigned after two years in the role.

The announcement closely follows the departure of the Sydney office’s creative director Guy Rooke who moved to Miami to join Crispin Porter & Bogusky.

Maddocks will continue working at the agency for up to six months during a transition period.

He has been with the Clemenger Group for 12 years, initially at Colenso BBDO in New Zealand where he worked for eight years.

Maddocks joined Clemenger Sydney to replace Danny Searle who was deputy chairman and creative director. Searle left the agency to take up the role of chairman and chief creative officer at BBDO Singapore.

Maddocks said:

I’ve decided I want to work with clients under an alternative agency structure. I’m in the early stages of discussion with several interested parties on how that might look.”

Maddocks is a founding board member of industry body the Communications Council.
