Cloudstreet’s international distribution acquired by Target Entertainment

Tim Winton’s Cloudstreet will be distributed internationally and domestically on DVD after the rights were acquired by Target Entertainment and Roadshow Entertainment.  

The announcement:

One of the world’s leading international distributors, Target Entertainment, has acquired the international sales rights to the critically acclaimed mini-series Tim Winton’s cloudstreet, it was announced today.

Also announced was Roadshow Entertainment’s acquisition of the DVD rights to the celebrated mini-series for Australia and DVD and television rights in New Zealand.

The highly anticipated mini-series premiered exclusively on SHOWTIME Australia’s showcase channel, on the FOXTEL and AUSTAR platforms, to critical acclaim in May 2011, and Target Entertainment will launch Tim Winton’s cloudstreet to the world market at MIPCOM 2011.

In making the announcement CEO of SHOWTIME Australia Peter Rose said: “Tim Winton’s cloudstreet cements SHOWTIME Australia’s continued commitment to making outstanding television entertainment for our premium channel showcase. I am delighted that an international distributor of Target’s calibre will be taking Tim Winton’s cloudstreet to the world and that we will be partnering with Roadshow Entertainment in the DVD rights in Australia and DVD and television rights in New Zealand.”

Featuring an outstanding ensemble cast including Stephen Curry, Essie Davis, Emma Booth, Geoff Morrell, Kerry Fox, Todd Lasance and Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Tim Winton’s cloudstreet is set in and around Perth, Western Australia during the 1940s and 1950s. cloudstreet tells the story of two rural families who suffer separate catastrophes and flee to the city to pick up the pieces of their lives and start again.

Brought together in the same house at No.1 Cloud Street, the Lambs and the Pickles’ share numerous tragedies and triumphs that draw them closer together, until the roof over their heads becomes a home for their hearts.

A Screentime production for SHOWTIME Australia’s showcase channel, Tim Winton’s cloudstreet was directed by Matthew Saville, written by Tim Winton and Ellen Fontana, produced by Greg Haddrick and Brenda Pam and executive produced by Kim Vecera, Des Monaghan, Sean H. Ferrer and Kirk M. Hallam.
