Co-founder of Ugly, Gary McCreadie, set to depart after just one year

M&C Saatchi-backed creative agency Ugly is set to lose one of its co-founders, Gary McCreadie, just one year into its operations.

Ugly launched in April last year with co-founders Anomaly Amsterdam’s founding partner and CEO Hazelle Klonhammer, M&C Saatchi’s former head of strategy Ross Berthinussen and McCreadie.

McCreadie is exiting the agency after one year

In a statement to Mumbrella, Klonhammer said: “I will miss Gaz dearly as both a great friend and a great partner, but for reasons beyond Ugly he is looking for a different challenge.”

Before joining Ugly, McCreadie was an executive creative director at TBWA Sydney for three years.

McCreadie departed TBWA Sydney in February last year and was replaced by M&C Saatchi’s Andy DiLallo.

Since launching, Ugly has worked for sports brand Ozmosis in a ‘Show us your scars’ campaign which was later banned by the ad watchdog for being “irresponsible”, while in December last year the agency also won the creative account for Uno Home Loans.

McCreadie has been approached for comment.
