Commercial Radio & Audio head of communications announces departure

Commercial Radio & Audio’s (CRA) head of communications has been made redundant after a year in the role.

Katie Kimberley began working in the role in September last year, joining CRA from Optus.

Taking to LinkedIn on Wednesday afternoon, she wrote: “I picked up my 7-year-old from school today and he said, ‘I told my teacher and class you lost your job.’

“If 1K knows, then I suppose LinkedIn land should too. Send me a message if you hear about any cool jobs I’d be cool at doing,” the post read.

Kimberley told Mumbrella on Wednesday that she loved working at CRA and is proud of what she achieved in her year there.

“I wish the CRA team all the best and radio will always be my favourite,” she said.

“Redundancies are a part of life.”

A CRA spokesperson told Mumbrella: “We thank Katie for everything she has done for Commercial Radio & Audio, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”

In her role as head of communications, Kimberley oversaw all media advisory and corporate comms for the industry body, including former CEO Ford Ennals departure, the body’s involvement in the Senate Inquiry into the Communications Legislation Amendment (Prominence and Anti-siphoning) Bill 2023, it’s annual Audio Edge event, and more.

Prior to CRA, Kimberley held media advisory roles for the NSW Government and Optus. She also has experience as a journalist, working in a number of reporter positions at Nine’s 2GB.

Mumbrella has contacted CRA for comment.
