Comms Council unveils AWARD chairs

The Communications Council has announced the jury chairs for this years The Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD) awards  – including Amnesia Razorfish’s Iain McDonald and Clemenger BBDO’s Paul Nagy.

The announcement:

Ninety of Asia Pacific’s most fertile minds have been tasked with selecting this year’s hotly contested AWARD awards, celebrating the region’s most brilliant creative endeavours.

The Awards presentation event will take place on Friday 25 February at CarriageWorks Sydney – the culmination of The Communications Council’s Festival of Commercial Creativity ‘Circus’ (February 22-25).

Chairmen of the individual juries are Chris Doyle, Interbrand (Design), Rob Galuzzo, The Finch Group (Craft in Film), Tay Guan Hin, JWT South East Asia (Print, Poster, Outdoor & Ambient), Iain McDonald, Amnesia Razorfish (Digital), Duncan Marshall, Droga5 (Film & Video), Noah Regan, Three Drunk Monkeys (Print Craft), Paul Nagy, Clemenger BBDO (Radio), and Dylan Taylor, BMF Sydney (Direct).

“Each of these jury chairmen has a history of advancing the creative debate and helping clients see the wisdom of great creative work,” said Craig Davis, AWARD Chairman.

“It’s a formidable group that will work without fear or favour, guided by the vision of Erik Vervroegen, Chairman of Judges.”

The re-engineered AWARD programme has been moved from its usual slot in November to accommodate an expanded programme, reflecting the growing importance of creativity to business, economies and society.

New award categories have been added, including music video, applications, social media, environmental design, and branded content. There is also a newly-introduced award for Creative Innovation, to recognise creative that defies categorisation.

Another dimension of AWARD’s expansion is the Communications Council’s ‘Circus’ – a three day programme leading up to AWARD night. On the 23rd of February ‘Circus’ presents a stunning line-up of local and international speakers in packed day of creative inspiration.

Michael Ritchie, deputy chair of AWARD and member of the Communications Council Board, said that ‘Circus’ would be unmissable. “This line-up is cracker – probably better than you’ll get at any single day in Cannes,” he said.

Tickets are available here now for both the AWARD presentation event and the full ‘Circus’ programme.
