Community radio station 89.9 Light FM rebrands

After 17 years as 89.9 Light FM, Positive Media’s community radio station has rebranded to become 89.9 The Light.

POSITIVE RADIO – VIBRANT FRESH NEW LOOK FOR 89.9 THELIGHT COMMUNITY RADIO


Positive Media today announced the launch of the refreshed brand 89.9 TheLight, previously known as 89.9 LightFM. The refreshed brand commenced broadcasting as 89.9 TheLight from 6am on Monday 16th March.

After 17 years broadcasting as one of Australia’s largest community radio stations, 89.9 TheLight is the first brand refresh the station has embarked upon. The name has been
changed to 89.9 TheLight as it better reflects the product being a positive light for people to share with others. TheLight also matches the bright and contemporary music format.

Jarrod Graetz, CEO of Positive Media said “This is such an exciting leap forward for the station. Energising the station’s visual appeal better reflects the station’s positive voice in the community, so more people will tune in to hear positive radio. The new station positioner is ‘Positive Radio’ as it is what we do and what makes us different. The fresh and
fun look is designed to attract new listeners, while inspiring existing listeners to share the light with friends and family”.

Over the past 17 years, the station has cultivated a loyal audience with a music format designed to be positive for the whole family. 89.9 TheLight will continue to be the station
listeners trust, playing the content and music they know and love.

The refreshed brand will have a more contemporary look and feel, to stand out in the crowd. Using the spectrum of light, the new logo tells a story through the design of modern
stained glass windows. Light creating movement through glass is the original medium for telling stories and this has been the inspiration for the new logo design. The new design is the creative work of seasoned radio professional, Wade Kingsley, of The Ideas Business. 89.9 TheLight launched on air Monday 16th March, with the new logo being revealed to
listeners across all assets on FM, DAB+, smart speakers and wherever you listen to your radio.
