Corin Dimopoulos departs Optus after 7 years

Optus‘ executive head of streaming television and content, Corin Dimopoulos, has taken to LinkedIn to announce his departure after over seven years with the brand.

Optus has not indicated whether it plans to replace Dimpoulos, though for the time being VP of content and product development Clive Dickens will continue to lead the Optus content strategy, including Optus Sport and Subhub.

Dimopoulos first joined Optus in 2015 as CMO before moving into his most recent role in 2017.  As head of streaming television and content he has developed Optus’ content offering across sports, entertainment and music and built strategic partnerships with major global brands including Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Premier League, FIFA and UEFA.

Under Dimopoulos, Optus Sport has grown to one million subscribers and has become one of the key players in football broadcasting in Australia. In November last year, Optus extended its lucrative broadcast rights for the English Premier League for a further six seasons through to the end of the 2027-28 competition.

Commenting on Dimopoulos’ departure, an Optus spokesperson said: “Corin has been instrumental in delivering key content for Optus Sport including the English Premier League renewal to 2028, FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and the record breaking Euro2020 championship.

“We wish Corin the best in his next endeavour and thank him for driving Optus Sport’s active subscriber base to 1 million. ”

Dimopoulos declined to add further to his LinkedIn post.
