The cast:

  • Hek: LA based musician Hanni El Khatib grew up in San Francisco listening to his parents’ punk, garage rock, blues and R&B records. In a past life he was head of a broom but he left that behind to play music. He’s released two awesome albums (the latest produced in Nashville by the Black Key’s Dan Auerbach) and is a wild man in the wee hours of the morning.
  • JC: Fellow San Franciscan Jeff Canham is a globally recognized artist and graphic designer. Known for his skills with typography and signwriting, Jeff got his start in the surf industry, as Art Director of Surfer Magazine for a time, and put all these creative skills to work in Someplace Else! That great big bus you see scooting around Mex is all Jeff with a little help from Rose Girl.
  • Wrong: Ozzie Wright is a professional surfer, artist, musician and hessian based on Sydney’s northern beaches. Whether he’s on the ocean, playing with his band Goons Of Doom or painting, Ozzie lives the life we all dream of… and he has great bangs for a man in his mid-30s.
  • Brophy: Originally from the West, professional skateboarder Andrew Brophy is now based in Melbourne. He is the owner of one of the highest ever ollies (87 skateboards laid flat) has legs like Red Cedar trees and has snapped more boards than Bruce Lee.
  • Graves: Dylan Graves is the unofficial Prince of Puerto Rico. One of the funniest and happiest professional surfers you will ever meet, he also leads the life that so many of us aspire to, free surfing around the world and writing songs about pro surfers. His John John Florence composition titled “Is it John John or is it John” has become a cult classic in international surfing circles.
  • Rose girl: Rose Ashton is a Sydney based model and artist with an expansive lineage in the visual arts. Her infectious enthusiasm is always on display, whether riding on elephants in Africa, surfing in remote locations, or painting on boulders and buses in Mexico. As the only girl on the Someplace Else adventure she literally was the rose amongst the thorns.
