Cosmo editor Keshnee Kemp to take helm at WHO Magazine
Editor of Bauer Media’s Cosmopolitan Keshnee Kemp is jumping ship to Pacific Magazines, to take up the helm at WHO magazine.
Kemp was appointed editor of Cosmpolitan just over a year ago, replacing Claire Askew, who left the title to spend time with her family.
Following her appointment, Kemp became focused on reinvigorating the brand and commenced a magazine refresh. The new magazine featured a ‘How To’ beauty section and travel section, and was looking to include more male voices.
Prior to her role at Cosmo, Kemp held roles including editor in chief of axed publication Famous, and chief of staff – mornings at Nine.
In her new role at WHO, Kemp will work as editor and content director, reporting to editorial director for New Idea and WHO, Emma Nolan. Nolan joined Pacific Magazines from Bauer Media in September last year, after 15 years as editor of TV Week.
Three weeks ago, Nolan was promoted to the role of editor in chief at New Idea.
Louisa Hatfield, general manager, family and entertainment, said Kemp was one of the industry’s “young stars”.
“She has quickly risen through the ranks, with great ideation, proven multi platform content creation abilities and both a strong editorial and commercial track record. It’s a huge win for us and her incredible drive, passion and millennial audience expertise will be a fantastic asset to Pacific,” said Hatfield.
Nolan said she couldn’t wait to have Kemp on the team: “Keshnee’s energy, drive, commercial nous and reputation for driving big ideas are well renowned. We can’t wait to have her on board.”
Kemp added the opportunity to work as both editor and content director at WHO was “too hard to refuse”.
“The brand has exciting plans for the future and I look forward to playing a key role in its growth and future direction.”
Kemp will commence her new role on June 4.
Bauer Media has been approached for comment.
I am a little confused how Ms Kemp has landed yet another editor role considering her last few roles?? FAMOUS and COSMOPOLITAN haven’t exactly flourished!? Will WHO be next?

Why did Keshnee leave 9? Mumbrella?

So, in nutshell. She closed FAMOUS. Was at Cosmo less than a year and now WHO? Clearly dinosaurs still roam the earth.

Keshnee WAS NOT editor in chief of FAMOUS. She was chief editor (whatever the hell that means). Please check her LinkedIn and amend Mumbrella. Rock on.

I wonder if WHO will go the same way as Famous? I don’t think I’d blame Keshnee for this, she’s clearly flogging a dead horse, so hardly her fault if WHO closed.

@lolly so who do you blame then? The industry? Those who hired her? Or maybe, Heaven forbid, the editor in question’s skill set? Considering she’s being heralded as the second coming I shall watch with fleeting interest. I have no doubt someone under 30 knows exactly what 40+plus year olds find interesting. Surely that’s WHO’s demo after all.

Interesting to say the least…

Doubtful. Kemp has all but closed two magazines, maybe WHO will be the exception? Unlikely.
